Dr. Nicolae Gheorghe Lupu Villa

La doi ani după ce proiectează Centrul de Cercetări Antropologice al Universității de Medicină Carol Davila, Virginia ANDREESCU HARET proiectează şi construieşte pentru academicianul (atunci conferenţiar doctor) Nicolae Gheorghe LUPU (1884-1966) o reşedinţă de un Neoromânesc matur cu aluzii și tendințe Art Deco.
Volumul simplu și elegant al corpului dinspre stradă are puține abateri de la un paralelipiped perfect adapostit sub acoperiș: nișa intrării principale, foișorul și teșitura unui colț, ambele la etaj. Majoritatea ancadramentelor sunt reduse la profilaturi epurate și solbancuri susținute de denticuli fini, ceea ce face ca ancadramentul intrării, cel al ferestrei de colț și foișorul să iasă în evidență în întreaga compoziție. Contrastul de ornamente proiectat cu finețe este bine pus în valoare de calitatea cioplirii în piatră și în lemn.
Corpul cu foișor este un alt prilej pentru contrast la această vilă: parterul este foarte masiv, mimând un cerdac, dar cu coloane puternice și cu golurile zidite, iar structura etajului (strict în această zonă) este foarte aerisită, cu elemente fine din lemn.
Vila, deși discretă, este una dintre prezențele cele mai plăcute de pe acest bulevard elegant.
Two years after she designs the Anthropology Research Center for the Carol Davila Medical University, Virginia ANDREESCU HARET designs and builds for academy member (back then associate professor) Nicolae Gheorghe LUPU (1884-1966) a mature Neo-Romanian residence with Art Deco hints and suggestions.
The simple and elegant volume of the street side part of the building has few deviations from a perfect parallelepiped harbored under the roof: the main entrance niche, the belvedere and the beveling of a corner, both on the upper floor. Most of the window frames are reduced to cleansed profiles and window aprons supported by refined dentils, which makes the stone frames of the front door and of the corner window and the entire belvedere really stand out within the whole composition. The refined design of the decoration contrast is very well emphasized by the quality of the stone and wood carving.
The belvedere part of the building is another contrast opportunity for this villa: the ground floor is massive, simulating a porch, but having strong columns and filled openings, while the structure of the upper floor (strictly in this area) is very ethereal, with refined wood elements.
The villa, although discreet, is one of the most pleasant elements on this elegant boulevard.
